All the points made in the video aside, I believe that when he was suddenly wrestling with two people rather than the one his initial skirmish was taking place with, he was in a position that he could not have been expected to work out a better way to deal with it, and an immediate response was necessary.

This does not address whether he should have been in the situation in the first place or any of the other actions taken. If he was doing wrong initially then he had no right to do anything that followed, but as shown here I think he should enjoy qualified immunity for that particular action.
