The reporters in this video get one major point perfectly wrong. It is not, in fact, illegal to record police officers at work. Any law which claims to make it illegal is an illegal law.

More to the point though is that we have always known if there is the potential for the abuse of power, that power will be abused. The more laws there are on the books (which grows daily on every level of law), the greater chance for misuse. We're starting to really see just how abused the system is specifically because of the actions of men like this.

In the end he will not be found guilty. There are too many lawyers and judges higher up the ladder who have a real and solid understanding of what the constitution allows and does not allow. But what about people whose cases do not garner so much publicity, for whom the EFF and the ACLU cannot afford to step in and help?

My personal definition of evil is roughly "that which exists contrary to the purpose of its existance." By that standard these laws are evil, the police who try to enforce (or mis-enforce) them are evil, the prosecutors who take up such charges are evil, and the judges who uphold such charges are evil.
