Police told man they would return to ransack his home, kill his dogs

"If we have to get a warrant... we’re gonna bust in your door with a battering ram, we’re gonna shoot and kill your dogs..."

KANSAS CITY, MO — An innocent man got a unexpected visit from police that left him shaken and fearing for his safety. Upset that he did not consent to a warrantless search of his home, officers told the man that if they had to return with a warrant, that they would be sure to ransack his home and kill his dogs in the process.

The evening of November 25th, Kansas City attorney Eric Crinnian was startled by a loud banging sound outside his house. His first reaction was to arm himself, so he picked up a crowbar and went to investigate. He says that a neighbor had recently suffered a burglary.

He discovered that the banging was coming from 3 men at his door who appeared to be police officers. He cracked the door to speak with them. That’s when he was ordered out of his home at gunpoint.

“I open the door a little bit wider and he sees that I have something in my hand, so he pulls his gun, tells me to put down whatever I’ve got and then come out with my hands up, so I do,” Crinnian said to Fox-4 News Kansas City.

The officers were seeking two men Crinnian says he had never heard of. They ended up being parole violators, and somehow police had found their way to Crinnian’s home to search for them.

After denying knowing the men and refusing a search multiple times, police became agitated. Crinnian, who works in law as a profession, told the police they’d need a warrant if they wanted to step foot inside his house. This did not please the Kansas City police officers.

That’s when one of the officers said something that deeply disturbed him.

“If we have to get a warrant, we’re going to come back when you’re not expecting it, we’re going to park in front of your house, where all your neighbors can see, we’re gonna bust in your door with a battering ram, we’re gonna shoot and kill your dogs, who are my family, and then we’re going to ransack your house looking for these people,” Crinnian recounted.

The officer’s creepy statement gives a frightening look at how some people wearing badges view the 4th amendment and the ability to abuse their power and get away with it.

His comments should not be taken lightly, as there are an incredible number of incidents involving police shooting dogs every year. The phenomenon is so wide-spread that it will be the subject of an upcoming documentary, PUPPYCIDE.

The statement, if true, should be grounds for immediate termination, as well as charges of official misconduct and intimidation. There is no room for power-drunk cops with the desire to vandalize property and kill animals in a department that has any decency.

Crinnian is an upstanding citizen who has no criminal record and has never had a run-in with police before they came to his house and pointed guns at him. He even added that he greatly respects KCPD. It remains to be seen much of that respect will remain after the department finishes “investigating” his case.

So far, the officer remains unnamed and the department refuses to comment. No disciplinary actions have been announced. The incident will be swept under the rug and forgotten… if the people allow it.

Police accountability is only obtained when the public shows an outpouring of demand for it. Without demand, it is convenient and prudent for administrations to downplay and ignore crimes committed within their ranks.

Will there be discipline for the anonymous psychopath with a badge? So far we aren’t even allowed to know his name. Demand it.
